The Central Andes of Argentina are a beautiful and unspoilt destination for short and extended treks, being the most remarkable, the one going to the impressive and massive south face of Mercedario.

We offer a fully guided horseback expedition / trek into the Valle del Colorado that takes you through one of the most stunning valleys of the entire Andes mountain range. The Valley is rarely visited and is in pristine condition. Our destination is Mercedairo base camp (Pirca de Polacos) nestled in an anphitheatre of 6000m peaks. You dont need any prior riding experience, our guides will ride with you the entire time and will teach you how to handle your horse and ride efficiently and safely.

Itinerary

  
Day 1: Arrival to San Juan or Mendoza   City. Overnight at hotel (***)
Day 2: Transfer to Barreal (240 km) (1600 m) and then to Santa Ana (60 km drive in 4WD vehicle). Overnight at Santa Ana (2200 m)
Day 3: Santa Ana - Corredores (2600 m) together with the horses and mules (6 hours hike or 4 hours ride). Camping at Corredores (at the bottom of marvelous red sand walls)
Day 4:  Corredores - Valle del Colorado (3600 m). (6 hours hike or 4 hours ride). Camping at "Pirca de Polacos"
Days Days for visiting the impressive Superior Valley, Salto Frio and South Face of Mercedario.
5 & 6:
Day 7: Way back to Santa Ana and transfer to Barreal for overnight at hotel (***)
Day 8: Transfer out (San Juan or Mendoza airport)
