The ¨Guide to Mercedario¨ is the book which includes all the different routes in the Mercedario Area and Valle del Colorado. The book´s primary objective is to inform people about the mountaineering and touristic possibilities within the Central Andeans. 

With this in mind, Aníbal Maturano, the author, has endeavored to provide as much information as available, especially with respect to the approaches to the encompassed peaks, classic circuit routes for hikes and horse riding tours, climbing routes, recommended equipment and climbing logistics.

Aníbal Maturano is also Don Mercedario´s director. He holds a bachelor degree in Geophysics and has a vast experience in the region. He has undertaken four expeditions to the Himalaya, one at the age of 19 to Mt. Shishapangma in Tibet (first Argentinean expedition reaching an 8000 m summit), another to Mt. Broad Peak in the Karakorum Area (reaching the rocky summit at 8026 m in 2001), and the other two as a guide. Presently Anibal holds the record of ascents of Cerro Mercedario, with seven summits by different routes and opening the West Wall Route in 1999. Anibal has taken part in many mountain films as an high altitude camera operator and/or actor. He has also climbed Aconcagua (including the South Face in 2010) and almost all peaks described in the book.
