South Face of Mercedario is technically not so difficult but fisically very demanding. This route requires a climb of 2000 vertical metres on 45 to 65 degrees ice and snow which must be climbed in one day push, since there are very few (if any) places that a camp could be established safely.

It is definitelly one of the best climbs at Valle del Colorado.
