At Valle del Colorado there are some very interesting 5000 m peaks. An example is Negro Peak, with 5600m. Located to the direct East of Mercedario, this peak provides both a non-technical and a technical line of ascent.

Negro´s Normal Route, together with Wanda Peak and Friuli Peak are very easy short routes, ideal to aclimattize.
